Indy buys this medallion from Marion Ravenwood at the Raven Saloon in Nepal for three thousand dollars. Later he affixes it to the top of a staff in the Map Room at Tanis, revealing the location of the Well of Souls.

This ceremonial plaque, cut and hammered from sheet gold, would have been attached to the belt of a chief. The human depicted on the plaque represents both a hero and the sun in the sky.
